Wish List

Fanapi Foundation’s dental care project needs funding for the following needs in our dental trips to Chuuk.

CLINIC EQUIPMENT: To lessen the impact on already limited resources in the local government, MDSP seeks funding to purchase and ship the necessary equipment and supplies to operate remote dental clinics including dental chairs, portable generators, compressors, dental supplies.

SHIPPING: MDSP need funds to ship all the dental clinic equipment to Micronesia.

SUPPORT CREW: While the team of volunteer dentists and their dental assistants will cover their own expenses (airfare, hotel, personal) during the duration of the project, funds will be raised in the U.S to pay for the expenses (airfare, hotel, local transportation) associated with a Support Crew comprising of a community liaison, technician, clinic director, and a health educator. The Support Crew will precede the team of doctors with the necessary equipment and supplies and to work with the local contacts for final preparation and clinic set up procedures.

LOCAL TRANSPORTATION: A major expense will also be the transportation needs of the entire delegation and our dental clinic equipment to the outer islands. This will include chartering two flights of the small 6-seater airline called Caroline Islands Airline to take the team as well as a boat for all the supplies and equipment.

LOCAL STIPENDS: To help nurture long-term sustainability and good relations with the local contacts, MDSP hopes to raise enough funds to pay a minimal stipend and help pay for food expenses for the local partners.

CAPACITY-BUILDING EFFORTS: Following the clinics on Onoun Island in June 2012, the Fanapi Foundation has initiated one of its long-term goals of capacity-building efforts. Led by Project Manager Vid Raatior, the team of local leaders will travel throughout the outer islands of the Northwest region to build grassroots support for a locally founded, locally led, locally supported, locally chartered, and locally administered nongovernmental organization (NGO) called Fanapi Center.
